🌊 Water Safety Awareness

Stay Safe. Stay Smart. Stay Afloat.

🚨 Why Water Safety Matters

Drowning is a leading cause of accidental death worldwide — but it’s preventable. Whether you’re at the pool, beach, lake, or just around water at home, knowing how to stay safe can save lives.

💡 Key Water Safety Tips

🏊 Always Supervise Children

Never leave kids unattended near water. Drowning can happen in seconds, silently.

🦺 Wear a Life Jacket

When boating or participating in open water activities, always wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket.

📵 Avoid Distractions

Put your phone down and focus when supervising swimmers, especially children.

🏖 Learn to Swim

Enroll yourself and your children in swimming lessons. Confidence in the water is a key to safety.

🌡 Check Water Conditions

Look for signs, check water temperature, and be aware of currents, tides, or weather changes.

🚫 No Alcohol Around Water

Avoid alcohol while swimming or supervising. It impairs judgment, balance, and reaction time.

📘 Safety at Specific Locations

🌊 Pools

  • Install fencing with self-closing, self-latching gates.

  • Keep rescue equipment nearby (life ring, reaching pole).

  • Learn CPR.

🏝 Beaches

  • Swim near lifeguards.

  • Obey posted signs and flags.

  • Watch for rip currents — if caught, swim parallel to the shore.

🚤 Lakes & Rivers

  • Be cautious of sudden drop-offs, debris, and changing currents.

  • Never dive into unknown waters.
